Development Studies postgraduate students went on a field trip to the Palauli Heritage Trails on the 3rd of October 2020. They visited recently uncovered star mounds and walk ways located in the village of Vaito’omuli. It was the first time the majority of the students had been exposed to one of Samoa’s ancient cultural sites and the trip generated more questions than answers. This proved that field trips to heritage sites play a vital role in encouraging students to promote the preservation of cultural heritage. The Centre for Samoan Studies Archaeology and Cultural Heritage team organized the tour while the National University of Samoa Students Association and the Centre for Samoan Studies financial support made this trip possible.
