On Wednesday, 18th September 2019, students in HDS 500, a Development Studies postgraduate course, had the Zoom joint-class session with the postgraduate students in Development Studies of the University of Auckland on the topic of ‘The governance of water.’ The lecture was given by Professor Andreas Neef, followed by discussions and questions on various water related topics including the bottled water industry.
Students from Samoa Water Authority presented briefly on the situation of Samoa’s water distribution while Auckland students presented on the situation of plastic bottle recycle in New Zealand. This session was the first trial for Development Studies students to have a Zoom based joint-class with students of other universities to learn diverse perspectives.
Our students enjoyed the session very much and thanked Professor Neef and Auckland students for supporting our trial. We look forward to having other sessions in coming semesters.
