The CSS Director Associate Professor Safua Akeli Amaama was invited as a keynote address at the Conference on Health and Labour After the Pacific War: Pacific Islanders and Medical Infrastructure (20-21 Feb 2020) hosted by Flinders University (Adelaide) and York University (Canada). Her presentation titled ‘Mobilising People, Places & Practice: Public Health Care in Samoa, 1920s to 1950s’ reviewed Samoa’s health care system in its early development. She also participated in workshop discussions with participants from Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Canada, Taiwan and Papua New Guinea. The conference included a book launch of Colonizing Madness: Asylum and Community in Fiji (2020) by Dr Jacqueline Leckie. The Centre was gifted a copy of the book which will be reviewed for the Journal of Samoan Studies.
