HDS501 Development Partnership class had the opportunity of having Australian Deputy High Commissioner, Barry Patterson as their guest speaker on 07 April 2021. Australia provides aid based on their policy aim of promoting prosperity, reducing poverty and enhancing stability. The purpose of the aid program is to promote Australia’s national interests by contributing to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction and has been an aid partner to Samoa for decades now. Sir Patterson gave a very thorough lecture on the aid works, projects, programmes and distribution in Samoa and also proceeded to highlight that Australia has been involved in many educational, infrastructural aid projects that have helped benefit and also build up Samoa’s quality of living. Thank you Sir Barry for a very informative and insightful lecture.
